Closure of the Exit 5 Northbound On-Ramp in Dover
To Allow for Reconstruction of Spaulding Turnpike

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces the planned permanent closure of the Exit 5 northbound on-ramp on the Spaulding Turnpike (NH 16) in Dover to facilitate the reconstruction of the Spaulding Turnpike between the Little Bay Bridge and the Dover Toll Plaza.

On Tuesday, September 11, 2018, the Spaulding Turnpike Exit 5 northbound on-ramp will be permanently closed to vehicular traffic for the construction of the new northbound lanes of the Spaulding Turnpike. This permanent closure is part of the overall planned improvements to the Spaulding Turnpike corridor to allow for the safe flow of traffic from the northbound Spaulding Turnpike onto the new Exit 6 northbound off-ramp that will be opened in the fall of 2018.

Motorists seeking to access the Spaulding Turnpike northbound from Boston Harbor Road, Dover Point Road, and Wentworth Terrace will be required to take the Exit 6 southbound on-ramp onto the southbound Spaulding Turnpike, continue south to Exit 4, and reverse direction via Shattuck Way and the Exit 4 northbound on-ramp.

This work is part of the Newington-Dover improvement project on the Spaulding Turnpike. Severino Trucking Company, Inc. of Candia, New Hampshire is the prime contractor for the $67 million project, which is scheduled to be completed in October, 2020.
