NH Route 9 Road and Bridge Improvements in Roxbury and Sullivan
Reduced Speeds and Alternating Traffic are Necessary to Complete the Work

Construction work is well underway on a road and bridge improvement project on NH Route 9 in Roxbury and Sullivan, and motorists traveling on the corridor should expect significant traffic impacts during weekday hours.

This roadway reconstruction project along Route 9 begins near the Granite Gorge Ski Area in Roxbury and continues easterly for approximately 2.1 miles to the Centre Street intersection in Sullivan. Road work includes tree removal on the steep ridgeline slopes and slope reduction to improve sight distances. The project will also include significant drainage and guardrail improvements. Bridge work entails replacing the existing NH Route 9 bridge over Otter Brook, and rehabilitating the Centre Street Bridge over Otter Brook.

Speeds are being down-posted from 45 mph to 35 mph during weekdays throughout construction. Alternating one-way traffic patterns with periods of extended delays are necessary in order to complete the work. Electronic message signs are being used to alert and inform motorists. Both uniformed officers and flaggers are being used to control traffic and guide motorists through the work zones.

R.S. Audley, Inc. of Bow, NH. is the prime contractor for the $13.5 million dollar project, which has a scheduled completion date of July 24, 2020.
