Walpole – Charlestown public informational meeting
Reconstruction of three miles of NH route 12

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) will hold a Public Information Meeting to discuss the planned reconstruction of 3 miles of NH Route 12 in Walpole and Charlestown.  This public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 7:00 pm at the North Walpole School, 17 Cray Road, in North Walpole, New Hampshire.  There will be an informal open house period for viewing and questions at 6:00 pm followed by a short presentation at 7:00 pm.

The project will reconstruct a section of NH Route 12, beginning just north of the intersection with Main Street in North Walpole, and extending approximately 3 miles north to the intersection with NH 12A in South Charlestown. The purpose of this project is to improve the safety of the corridor by widening the roadway and constructing paved shoulders, which will result in increased comfort during use by commercial vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists, as well as during maintenance activities. Proposed work includes full box reconstruction, riverbank slope stabilization, construction of stormwater treatment and drainage upgrades, as well as guardrail replacement.

The purpose of this meeting is to present citizens and public officials with information regarding the proposed project and to solicit public input in order to ensure that project decisions meet public transportation needs, community goals, and protect and enhance the environment. Accordingly, NHDOT assures that this project will be administered according to the requirements of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and all related statutes to ensure nondiscrimination
