Northbound Ramp Opening on I-293 Exit 4 in Manchester
Was Closed for 13 Months to Allow for Construction Work

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces the planned opening of the I-293 northbound on-ramp at Exit 4 in Manchester. Weather permitting, the ramp is scheduled to be opened to traffic during the morning of Saturday, October 29, 2016. Drivers will be informed of the ramp opening via message boards.

The Exit 4 northbound on-ramp has been closed since September of 2015 in order to allow for the completed construction of the northbound on-ramp bridge and the I-293 bridge over the North Branch of the Piscataquog River.

Once the northbound on-ramp is opened, I-293 northbound and southbound milling and paving operations are scheduled to begin the week of October 31, 2016, weather permitting. The work will include daytime lane closures. Drivers will be alerted via message boards, construction signage and State Police.

This work is part of the I-293 widening and bridge replacement project in the vicinity of Exit 4. The project includes the replacement of four "Red Listed" bridges and the rehabilitation of one "Red Listed" bridge at the I-293 Exit 4 Interchange.

The roadwork has included: construction of a third southbound lane, beginning approximately 150 feet north of the existing northbound on-ramp and continuing approximately 0.6 mile south; Exit 4 ramps reconstruction and pavement rehabilitation; sound wall construction; drainage improvements; water line reconstruction; installation of concrete median barrier; and guardrail improvements.

Severino Trucking Inc., of Candia, New Hampshire is the general contractor for the $26.2 million project, which has a completion date of November 18, 2016.
