Construction of Roundabout on NH Route 9 in Keene
Temporary Traffic Detour on Base Hill Road

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces plans for a temporary shift traffic during construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of NH Route 9 and Base Hill Road in Keene.

Beginning Monday, August 22, 2016, eastbound motorists on Route 9 seeking to turn left onto Base Hill Road north will be directed to the existing roundabout at the intersection of Route 9 and Winchester Street to reverse direction and make a right turn into Base Hill Road north. Additionally, motorists traveling on Base Hill Road south seeking to turn left onto Route 9 westbound will also be directed to reverse direction at the Route 9/Winchester Street roundabout.

This new traffic alignment will allow for construction of the roundabout center and splitter islands. Through traffic on Base Hill Road will be maintained, but lengthy delays are possible. It is strongly advised that through traffic on Base Hill Road find alternate travel routes if possible.

Message boards, detour signs, uniformed officers, flaggers, and traffic control devices along NH Route 9 and Base Hill Road will be used to provide advanced information and direct motorists safely through the work zone.

Weaver Bros. Construction of Bow, New Hampshire is the general contractor for the $1.5 million project, which is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2016.
