Walpole – Charlestown Public Informational Meeting
Improvements to Three Miles of NH Route 12

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) will hold a combined Public Officials/Public Informational Meeting to review and discuss the reconstruction and associated roadway improvements on NH Route 12, from Main Street in North Walpole north approximately three miles to NH Route 12A in South Charlestown.

The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 7:00 pm at the North Walpole School, 17 Cray Road in North Walpole, New Hampshire. Plans will be available for viewing at 6:30 pm.

The purpose of this meeting is to update citizens and public officials with information regarding the proposed project. As a result of significant construction cost increases the Department is proposing to move the roadway westerly to avoid needing to move the railroad tracks as previously proposed. Building a stabilized vegetated slope along the river can provide the space needed to rebuild the roadway without the significant cost of blasting ledge to move the railroad tracks. We are looking for public input in order to ensure that project decisions meet public transportation needs, community goals, and protect and enhance the environment. Accordingly, NHDOT assures that this project will be administered according to the requirements of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and all related statutes to ensure nondiscrimination.

Any individuals needing assistance or auxiliary communication equipment due to sensory impairment or other disability, should contact the Bureau of Right-of-Way, NHDOT, PO Box 483, Concord, New Hampshire 03302-0483 or call 603-271-3222 – TDD Access: Relay NH 1-800-735-2964. Notification for the need of assistance should be made at the earliest convenience. If you have any questions or need any additional information regarding the proposed project, call (603) 271-2171.
