The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces a detailed inspection of the General Sullivan Bridge over Little Bay in Dover-Newington is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, June 8 through Friday, June 17, 2016. The inspection work will include the weekend days of Saturday, June 11 and Sunday, June 12, with approximate work hours from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm depending on tides and weather.

During this inspection period, the General Sullivan Bridge will remain open to pedestrian and bicycle traffic. Access will be restricted from sections of the bridge where inspection work is being completed. Inspection will involve access by boat and platform in the main river channel that may result in some limited, short term restrictions on Thursday, June 16th from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The purpose of this inspection is to continue ensuring the General Sullivan Bridge is safe for pedestrian and bicycle traffic. The bridge has been closed to motor vehicle traffic since 1984.
