Paving Work Planned on Maplewood Avenue in Portsmouth
Will Include Ramp Closures on Route 1 Bypass on September 24

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation announces upcoming temporary roadway closures for the completion of paving operations on Maplewood Avenue near the Route 1 Bypass in Portsmouth. This work is associated with the replacement of the Maplewood Avenue Bridge.

The paving work will take place on Thursday, September 24, 2015, beginning at approximately 9:00 am. Impacts to motorists will include the closure of Maplewood Avenue between Dennett Street and the Route 1 Bypass, and the closure of the Route 1 Bypass on and off ramps to Maplewood Avenue.

Motorists are asked to use Market Street and Woodbury Avenue to bypass the area during this closure. The roadways are expected to be reopened to traffic by 3:00 pm on September 24.

ED Swett of Concord, New Hampshire is the general contractor for this $3.9 million project, which is replacing the Maplewood Avenue Bridge over the Route 1 Bypass.
