Bridge Steel Setting At Maplewood Ave. Bridge In Portsmouth
Short-Term Closures Of Route 1 Bypass On Night Of August 4

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces upcoming night work on the Route 1 Bypass in Portsmouth for the erection of structural steel at the Maplewood Avenue Bridge.

This work will take place on the night of Tuesday, August 4, and will include short-term roadway closures, both northbound and southbound, of thee Route 1 Bypass in the area of Maplewood Avenue.

Work will begin at approximately 5:00 pm, with a series of short-term roadway closures beginning at 8:00pm. The duration of these closures is anticipated to be less than 10 minutes. The work is expected to be completed in one night. The rain date for this work would be the following night, Wednesday, August 5.

The Maplewood Avenue Bridge has been closed since July of 2014 for full replacement. E.D. Swett Inc. of Concord New Hampshire is the prime contractor for the $3.9 million project, which is scheduled to be completed in November 2015.
