Nighttime Closures on I-293 at Exit 4 in Manchester
Bridge Steel Setting Work Planned on July 22-23

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces temporary nighttime closures are planned on I-293 in Manchester in the vicinity of Exit 4 for construction operations.

Weather permitting; the I-293 closures are scheduled to take place from Wednesday, July 22 through Thursday July 23, from 8:00 pm until 5:00 am. Interstate 293 southbound will have one open lane at all times. Northbound traffic will have complete shut downs on the night of July 22nd from 11:00 pm to 5:00 twice an hour in 15 minute intervals to set bridge girders. The Exit 4 southbound on-ramp may have complete shut downs twice an hour in 15 minute intervals on July 23rd between 11:00 pm and 5:00 am to set the remaining bridge girders.

These temporary nighttime closures are to set bridge girders for the new Exit 4 northbound off-ramp overpass bridge. Electronic message boards, traffic control devices, and NH State Police will be used to alert and assist motorists during the closures. Motorists are advised that they can use Route 101 East to I-93 North as an alternate route.

This work is part of the I-293 widening and bridge replacement project in the vicinity of Exit 4. The project includes the replacement of four "Red Listed" bridges and the rehabilitation of one "Red Listed" bridge at the I-293 Exit 4 Interchange.

The road work includes: construction of a third southbound lane, beginning approximately 150 feet north of the existing northbound on-ramp and continuing approximately 0.6 mile south; Exit 4 ramps reconstruction and pavement rehabilitation; sound wall construction; drainage improvements; water line reconstruction; installation of concrete median barrier; and guardrail improvements.

Severino Trucking Inc., of Candia, New Hampshire is the general contractor for the $26.2 million project, which has a completion date of November 18, 2016.
