Stewartstown, NH – Canaan, VT Public Informational Meeting
Rehabilitation Of Bridge Street Bridge Over Connecticut River

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces a combined Public Officials/Public Information meeting to present details for the project scheduled to rehabilitate the bridge carrying Bridge Street over the Connecticut River between Stewartstown, NH and Canaan, VT. This meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 16, 2015 at 4:00 pm during the regularly scheduled Selectmen's meeting in the Community Room at the Stewartstown Community School, 60 School Street, in West Stewartstown, New Hampshire.

The general scope of work includes repairs to the steel superstructure, replacement of the deck, concrete substructure repairs, and painting of the bridge. Bridge Street will be closed for the 2016 and 2017 construction seasons between the intersections with Route 253 on the Vermont approach, and Church Street and River Street on the New Hampshire approach. The intersection of Bridge Street with Church Street and River Street will require 3-way traffic signals, with Church and River Streets reduced to one lane in the immediate vicinity of the intersection. The detour for the project will utilize VT Route 114/Main Street over the Connecticut River.

The purpose of this meeting is to present citizens and public officials with information regarding the proposed project. The meeting is also to solicit public input in order to ensure that project decisions meet public transportation needs, community goals, and protect and enhance the environment. Accordingly, NHDOT assures that this project will be administered according to the requirements of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and all related statutes to ensure nondiscrimination. This project will have an effect on historical properties.
