Work Schedule Change On Little Bay Bridge Project On The Spaulding Turnpike In Newington-Dover

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation announces that beginning Monday, September 19, 2011 the NH 16/US 4/Spaulding Turnpike construction project in Newington-Dover will be moving to a 24-hour work schedule to complete drilled shaft installations for the Little Bay Bridge piers.

This work schedule is change from the current work schedule that has been from 6:00 am to 12:00 am Monday through Friday, and Saturday from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The 24-hour work schedule will be from 12:00 am Mondays through 6:00 pm on Saturdays. Work is not anticipated to occur on Sundays. This schedule will be in place into early November, or until the completion of the drilled shaft installations, at which point the schedule will revert back to a 6:00 am to 7:00 pm work day, Monday through Saturday.

This work schedule change is for the completion of the drilled shafts on the Newington half of the bridge. Drilled Shaft installations on the Dover half of the bridge have been completed.

Construction of a new four-lane bridge, in addition to the rehabilitation of the existing Little Bay Bridge, will double the traffic capacity and improve safety along this section of the Spaulding Turnpike. Cianbro Corporation of Pittsfield, Maine is the general contractor for the $50.3 million project, which has a completion date of November 2013.
