US Route 4 Bridge in Andover to Close for Repairs
Six Week Traffic Detour to Begin on October 13

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces planned bridge repairs to the US Route 4 bridge over the Blackwater River in Andover will require the full closure of the bridge to traffic for approximately six weeks. The bridge is located about 1/3 of a mile from the Andover/Salisbury town line.

Beginning Monday, October, 13, 2014, a signed detour will be in place using Plains Roads and NH Route 11. Oversize loads should seek alternate routes if possible.

The repairs to the 70-foot long bridge will involve structural steel repairs. Built in 1933, the US Route 4 bridge was added to New Hampshire’s “Red List” in May of 2014. Approximately 2,400 vehicles cross the bridge daily.
