Spaulding Turnpike Traffic Shift in Dover/Newington/Portsmouth
Southbound Between Exit 4 and Exit 1 Night of September 26

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces a planned nighttime traffic shift on the Spaulding Turnpike southbound between Exit 4 and Exit 1.

This traffic shift will start at around 8:00 pm on the night of Friday, September 26, 2014. Southbound traffic will be restricted to a single lane as needed. Overnight work will include milling, paving, pavement marking of the lane lines, and setting portable concrete barrier.

At the conclusion of the traffic change, two lanes of southbound traffic will be traveling off the existing southbound barrel into the median area on the newly constructed pavement. The shift will allow construction work on the existing southbound barrel and at the Exit 4 southbound interchange to continue through the fall and winter months.

State Police and electronic message boards will be used to alert traffic to the constricted conditions. Temporary light towers will be used to light work areas. Motorists traveling southbound on the Spaulding Turnpike during this time period are asked to drive carefully, expect delays, and be prepared to stop.

The Exit 3 southbound to Woodbury Avenue ramp will remain open through the winter, and until the bridge now under construction is ready for traffic. Northbound traffic patterns will remain in its current configuration for the winter months.
