Blasting on I-93 at Exit 3 in Windham
Rolling Roadblocks on Night of 8/25

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation announces plans for blasting work on ledge adjacent to the interim southbound lanes on Interstate 93 at Exit 3 in Windham. This blasting will take place on Monday, August 25, beginning 6:00 pm and completed by about 9:00 pm. The blasting is necessary to accommodate the new alignment of the northbound off-ramp.

Rolling roadblocks will be used to slow I-93 southbound and northbound traffic during blasting operations, resulting in minor delays in the northbound direction and more significant delays in the southbound direction. Southbound and northbound on-ramps and NH 111 traffic will be temporarily stopped during blasting. Extended I-93 southbound, NH 111, and Exit 3, southbound ramp closures may be required to allow crews to safely remove blasted ledge from the roadway, due to its close proximity to the work. Delays in the southbound direction could reach 30 to 45 minutes.

The blasting is weather dependent. Tuesday, August 26, is the backup date for this work. Message boards along I-93 will provide advance notice of the beginning of blasting operations.

This work is part of the construction of the final northbound I-93 roadway alignment and Northbound Ramps in the vicinity of Exit 3. Weaver Bros. Construction of Concord, New Hampshire is the general contractor for the $32.2 million project, which is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2016.
