Project Adding Parking at Portsmouth Transportation Center
Major Restricted Parking in Effect for Three Months

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces plans to reconfigure and expand existing parking areas at the Portsmouth Transportation Center (PTC) that will result in an overall increase of 256 parking spaces. Parking demand at the PTC routinely exceeds capacity.

Construction operations at the PTC from August 25 until October 31, 2014 will result in temporary and significant parking capacity reductions at the Portsmouth Transportation Center (PTC) located off of Exit 3 of I-95 Exit 3.

During construction, a portion of the access roadway from Grafton Road to the PTC Terminal Building will be one-way only and parking in the northern auxiliary lot at the PTC will be restricted or prohibited.

The PTC Terminal Building will not be affected by the construction project and transit providers utilizing the Portsmouth Transportation Center will continue to operate per their published schedules.

Travelers who will not be using transit services at the PTC during the construction period are encouraged to utilize the other available park and ride lots in the area. Information on NH park and ride lots, including another lot in Portsmouth and lots in Hampton, Rochester and Dover, can be found online at

Alvin J. Coleman & Sons, Inc. of Conway, NH is the general contractor for the $687,000 project, which has a scheduled completion date of October 31, 2014.
