Paving Work to Close a Section of NH 12A in Alstead
Daytime Detour in Place on Monday, May 12

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces final paving work is planned for Monday, May 12, 2014 on a section of NH Route 12A in Alstead that was severely damaged by flooding in late June 2013.

Weather permitting, this paving work on May 12 will require a full closure of NH 12A to traffic, from just north of Walpole Valley Road northward for one-half mile. Electronic message boards will alert motorists to the road closure, and flaggers will assist with the one day detour.

The emergency repair involved 15 individual repair sites with work that included full roadway reconstruction, shoulder and ditch line repair, slope repairs, construction of a retaining wall, box culvert and drainage, ledge removal, guardrail replacement, and paving.

The damaged section of road was reopened to traffic on December 3, 2013. R.S. Audley Inc., of Bow, New Hampshire is the general contractor for the $1,786,097 emergency repair project.
