Reconstruction of US 3 Intersections in Hooksett
Benton Road and Martins Ferry Road

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces work is scheduled to begin the week of Monday, June 2, 2014 at the intersections of Benton Road/US Route 3 and Martins Ferry Road/US Route 3 in Hooksett. This work includes the partial reconstruction and paving of Benton Road, from the west of the entrance to Dunkin Donuts to Route 3. On Martins Ferry Road, the rebuilding and paving will extend from west of the McDonalds entrance to Route 3.

During this work, both Martins Ferry and Benton roads will be excavated to replace the pavement base materials. Traffic will be maintained in an alternating, one-way configuration, while access to business entrances will be maintained at all times. Delays during these operations are anticipated. Motorists should be aware of construction signs and electronic message boards for up-to-date information.

After the base materials are in place, the paving of US Route 3, Martins Ferry Rd., and Benton Rd. is anticipated to take two days, weather permitting. The paving will also cause interruptions in the flow of traffic, and motorists should allow for increased travel times. Once the paving is completed, line painting and curbing will be installed before traffic will be shifted to the new sections of the roadway. This will allow for improved traffic flow during the rebuilding and drainage improvements on the remaining portions of the project.

Construction for this road widening will be completed in October 2014. Continental Paving Inc. of Londonderry, New Hampshire is the general contractor for the $4 million project.
