New Castle- Rye Public Informational Meeting
Replacement of Wentworth Bridge on NH 1B Over Little Harbor

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) will hold a public information meeting on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 to receive public input on two designs – a lift bridge or a fixed bridge – to replace the New Castle-Rye Bridge, also known as the Wentworth Bridge, on NH Route 1B over Little Harbor, next to the Wentworth by the Sea Marina and Golf Course.

The public meeting will take place at The Common (Recreation Center), 301 Wentworth Road (Route 1B) in New Castle, NH. The formal presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. for viewing of the plans.

The NHDOT's proposed bridge design, a bascule lift bridge, was presented at a public meeting held in January. Following the January public meeting, the NHDOT developed an additional fixed bridge design alternative for consideration. The NHDOT invites the public to attend to learn about the pros and cons of each bridge design, lift bridge or fixed bridge, and to ask questions and express views.
