Inspection of General Sullivan Bridge in Dover-Newington
Bridge Over Little Bay Will Remain Open to Pedestrians/Bicyclists

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces a detailed inspection of the General Sullivan Bridge over Little Bay in Dover-Newington is scheduled to take place from Monday, May 5 through Friday, May 16, 2014. The inspection work will include the weekend days of Saturday, May 10 and Sunday, May 11.

During this inspection period, the General Sullivan Bridge will remain open to pedestrian and bicycle traffic. Access will be restricted from sections of the bridge where inspection work is being completed.

The purpose of this inspection is to undertake a complete structural investigation and load rating of the superstructure to gain a better understanding of how the General Sullivan Bridge may be rehabilitated in the future. The bridge has been closed to motor vehicle traffic since 1984.
