Temporary Ramp Closure on I-293 at Exit 4 in Manchester
Bridge Girder Installation Will Affect Northbound On-Ramp

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces plans for temporary closures of the I-293 northbound on-ramp at Exit 4 in Manchester at four intervals of approximately 10 minutes each. The closures are scheduled to take place on Thursday, April 24, 2014 between 9:00 am until 2:00 pm.

These temporary ramp closures will allow for bridge girder installation crossing the I-293 northbound Exit 4 on-ramp. This work is weather dependent. Motorists seeking to use the I-293 northbound on-ramp at Exit 4 are advised to seek alternate routes during this time period. Electronic message boards and traffic control devices will be used to alert and assist motorists during the 10 minute ramp closures.

This work is part of the I-293 widening and bridge replacement project in the vicinity of Exit 4. The project includes the replacement of four "Red Listed" bridges and the rehabilitation of one "Red Listed" bridge at the I-293 Exit 4 Interchange.

The roadwork includes: construction of a third southbound lane, beginning approximately 150 feet north of the existing northbound on-ramp and continuing approximately 0.6 mile south; Exit 4 ramps reconstruction and pavement rehabilitation; sound wall construction; drainage improvements; water line reconstruction; installation of concrete median barrier; and guardrail improvements.

Severino Trucking Inc., of Candia New Hampshire is the general contractor for the $26.2 million project, which has a completion date of November 18, 2016.
