Importing MX Strings as Features

The directions in Create Terrain Drawing Features - Introduction should have been followed prior to preforming these steps.

Import MX Strings as Linear Features

  1. Open the Default-3D model of the 12345-terrain.dgn. From the Terrain Model task menu, select the Create From File tool. From the Select Files To Import panel, select this project's Model.fil (confirm the folder path of the file being selected, the location displayed may not be the one desired) and click Done to advance to the Import Terrain Model(s) panel.
  2. From the Import Terrain Model(s) panel, check the TOPO FEATURES model. Verify in the Options area of this panel that the MX Options, Default Style Set is set to OpenRoads.pss (the panel size might need to be adjusted to view the Default Style Set).
  3. On the same panel, set the Import Options to Import Features Only.
  4. In the Geographic Coordinate Systems section, set the Source to NH83/2011F if the project's drawing units are US Survey Feet or leave blank if drawing units are in Feet. To set the Source, click the ... button at the right side of the box. For help with this process, see Setting the Geographic Coordinate System.
  5. Click Import to process the new features. The Import Terrain Model(s) panel does not close upon Import, so close this panel afterwards.
  6. Save the 12345-terrain.dgn.
