Councilor Russell E. Prescott


A lifelong resident of the NH Seacoast, Russell Prescott grew up in Exeter, NH and now lives in Kingston. He has served five terms as a New Hampshire Senator and was named Deputy President Pro Tem for the 2015 Legislative Session. Prescott was first elected in 2000 for two terms, and was re-elected in 2010, 2012 and again in 2014. As Senator he represented Senate Districts 19 and 23, including towns from Newmarket to Plaistow and Derry to Seabrook.

During the 2015-2016 legislative sessions, he served as the chair for the Commerce and the Rules, Enrolled Bills & Internal Affairs Committees. Councilor Prescott is the former chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee and is active in promoting job creation throughout the state. Councilor Prescott has brought job fairs to his district and has championed job-promoting legislation that streamlines regulation and increases educational opportunities for those seeking employment in our state’s emerging work fields.

For more than 30 years, Councilor Prescott has been the co-owner and vice-president of R.E. Prescott Company, a wholesale distributor and manufacturer of water treatment systems. The company, founded in 1954 by his father, employs approximately 40 people and has operated in the same Exeter building since 1963.

Prescott is a practicing professional engineer and holds several patents. He enjoys home restoration and recently finished a restoration of a 1737 Colonial, barn, and grist mill in his town. Russell is also a member of the Exeter Area Chamber of Commerce, the Exeter Rotary Club, and the Kingston Lions Club. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Florida. He and his wife, Susan, have been married for 34 years and have five grown children and one grandson.
