Welcome

Welcome to the New Hampshire Veterans Home. We thank you for your service to our country and we look forward to helping you.

We invite you to explore our web site and make an appointment for a tour of our campus - whether you are ready for long term care or just "planning ahead". Planning ahead for long term care may seem overwhelming, but our experienced staff can make it a lot easier.

Welcome to the New Hampshire Veterans Home
Welcome to the New Hampshire Veterans Home

There are nearly 150 State Veterans Homes and thousands of nursing homes across the country. Ours is the only Home exclusively for veterans in New Hampshire, and we think our residents and staff are very special. We are a nursing home, but a Home unlike what you'd normally imagine. Our Home is filled with activity, interesting people with a great deal in common, and unique opportunities to enjoy life.

Although you may need help caring for yourself, just look at the bright side: at the Veterans Home you'll never have to shovel snow again, go grocery shopping, worry about your heating bill, or plan another meal. Instead of being isolated and lonely, you'll enjoy the fellowship and friendship of other veterans. You'll be able to fill your day with activities, volunteer in a local school if you feel like it, or just relax and curl up with a good book. We respect your individuality and work with you to make decisions that affect your daily life.

At the New Hampshire Veterans Home, our focus is on person-centered care, so care management revolves around our residents. Person-centered care is a philosophical approach to nursing home care that honors and respects the voice of residents and those working closest with them. It involves a continuing process of listening, trying new things, seeing how they work, and changing things in an effort to individualize care and de-institutionalize the nursing home environment. The care plan is written from the resident's point of view and reads as though the resident was talking. The care plan is developed and modified from conversations with the resident regarding key issues. Individual preference is honored and respected.

We invite you to call us, come for a tour, and bring lots of questions. Again, we thank you for your service - and for your interest in the New Hampshire Veterans Home.
