Halloween Safety
Whether your local community celebrates Halloween on Sunday October 25th or on Saturday October 31st, we ask all motorists to use extreme caution and keep their eyes open for children Trick-or-Treating. Young children can be unpredictable and do not always watch for oncoming vehicles. It is a good idea to know when your community is observing the holiday.
We also ask the Trick-or-Treaters to do the following:
- Go to well-lit houses if out at night
- Travel in small groups with an adult
- Teach younger children their home address and phone number in case they become lost
- Bring all treats home to be inspected before eating
- Have a flashlight in the group
- Wear reflective material on costumes
- Use sidewalks when able, or walk against traffic if there are no sidewalks so you can watch for oncoming vehicles
- Wear costumes made of flame-resistant materials
- Choose costumes that are well-fitted to avoid tripping
