C.A.R.E. Life Saver Weekend-Memorial Day
State Police Director Colonel Robert Quinn announces the enforcement efforts of State Troopers during the recent C.A.R.E. Life Saver Weekend. The State Police are pleased to announce that there were no fatal motor vehicle crashes and want to thank all those who traveled safely and courteously.
Beginning Friday May 24, 2013 through Monday May 27, 2013, State Troopers maintained a highly visIble presence throughout the State to assure safe holiday travel making a total of 2529 vehicle stops, which included 686 citations for speeding and 1161 warnings. There were also 130 citations issued for hazardous violations and 18 for Driving after Suspension. Additionally, 60 other criminal arrests were made during this time period.
Highly trained State Troopers were also assigned throughout the state to detect and apprehend impaired drivers. As a result of their enforcement efforts there were a total of 24 DWI arrests made.
Several erratic and impaired operators were identified and apprehended as a result of phone calls by responsible citizens reporting unsafe and erratic operation. The men and women of the State Police appreciate the public's assistance in removing impaired drivers from our roadways.
The New Hampshire State Police are committed to ensuring safe travel throughout the state and will continue our efforts to reduce traffic collisions in the upcoming summer season.
