Labor Day Weekend Highway Safety Efforts

The Operation C.A.R.E holiday weekend traffic enforcement effort conducted by the State Police has come to a conclusion.  During the extended holiday period that began on Friday August 31, 2012 at 12:01 AM and ended on Monday September 3, 2012 at 11:59 PM, the State Police logged a total of 35 motor vehicle accidents throughout the state with 3 fatalities.

Troopers also monitored speed through the use of radar, laser, and aircraft and worked extra patrols looking for alcohol and drug impaired drivers.  State Police Colonel Robert Quinn said the Operation C.A.R.E holiday weekend enforcement effort recorded the following:

  • 3404 Vehicle stops
  • 21 DWI arrests
  • 939 Speed court summonses
  • 180 Other court
  • 1991 Warnings
  • 28 Defective equipment tags
  • 7 Seatbelt Warnings
  • 3 Seatbelt Citations
  • 56 Criminal Arrests
  • 16 Suspensions

Colonel Robert Quinn states the NH State Police will continue to operate similar holiday weekend traffic enforcement efforts to promote and emphasize the importance of highway safety and to save lives.
