Operation C.A.R.E. Holiday Weekend Report - Thanksgiving

The Operation Care holiday weekend traffic enforcement effort conducted by the State Police has come to a successful conclusion, according to Safety Commissioner John Barthelmes. During the extended holiday period that began on Wednesday November 26, at 12:01 AM and ended Sunday, November 30, at midnight, the State Police logged a total of 74 motor vehicle accidents throughout the state.

Troopers also monitored speed through aircraft and radar zones, and worked extra patrols looking for alcohol and drug impaired drivers. Enforcement efforts were enhanced by additional seatbelt enforcement details, and a DWI sobriety checkpoint sponsored by the New Hampshire Highway Safety Agency. State Police Colonel Frederick Booth said the Operation Care holiday Weekend enforcement effort recorded the following:

  • 4188 Vehicle stops
  • 20 DWI arrests
  • 938 Speed court summonses
  • 216 Other court
  • 2347 Warnings
  • 82 Defective equipment tags
  • 1 Commercial vehicle violations
  • 5 Seatbelt Warnings
  • 3 Seatbelt Citations

Commissioner Barthelmes states the Department of Safety will continue to operate similar holiday and weekend traffic enforcement efforts to promote and emphasize the importance of highway safety.
