Sobriety Checkpoint in Salem
On September 12-13, 2008, the State Police will be conducting a Sobriety Checkpoint on Route 28 in Salem, New Hampshire.
Personnel from Troop B, with support from the Salem Police Department, will establish the checkpoint with the express purpose of detecting and apprehended drivers impaired by alcohol and drugs.
Drivers passing through the checkpoint will be delayed only minimally, should alcohol and drug impairment not be present. Drivers are encouraged to be watchful for police personnel in the roadway during these hours.
September 13, 2008 UPDATE
Assisted by New Hampshire Liquor Enforcement personnel, Troopers stopped a total of 101 vehicles. Ten drivers were detained, four people were arrested for alcohol offenses, and one driver was issued a summons for a motor vehicle violation.
