Troop D is tasked with providing 24-hour patrol coverage to 25 towns and two cities located within Merrimack County. In addition, Troop D covers approximately 230 miles of interstate.
Merrimack County, centrally located within the State of New Hampshire, is a composite of rural, suburban and metropolitan areas. Troop D personnel are actively involved in all aspects of law enforcement and many of the communities within the troop geographical area rely on Troop D personnel for police services. The State Capital is located within the area under the responsibility of Troop D and the troopers are tasked with being the primary law enforcement provider to many of the state facilities, properties and agencies. These include the State House, Governor’s Mansion, State Prison, New Hampshire State Hospital and the New Hampshire Technical Institute.
