EM Academy

Emergency Management protects communities by coordinating and integrating activities necessary to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and recover from threatened or actual natural disasters, acts of terrorism, or other man-made disasters. The goal of the EM Academy is to provide the basic tools to build, sustain, and improve these same capabilities within your agency, department, organization or community.

Courses are offered in a variety of formats, including:

  • Online: (i.e. FEMA Independent Study)
  • Classroom (taught by subject matter experts)
  • Seminars: (i.e EP Conference sessions)
Level I: ICS/NIMS/WebEOC Awareness
Level II: EM Implementation
Level III: FEMA Professional Development Series
Level IV: Hands-on EOC Leadership
  • G-191 ICS/EOC Interface
  • Participate in Writing and Facilitating a Table-Top Exercise*
  • Participate in Evaluating or Controlling a Table-Top Exercise*
  • HSEEP or G-319 Exercise Design; Writing and Running Exercises
  • Participate as a Player in a Table-Top Exercise**
  • 3 Electives
*Benchmarks/extent of involvement will be predetermined by HSEM
