Course Name: Swiftwater Rescue Awareness (SRA)
Career Track: Firefighter, Technical Rescue Responder
Hours: 4
Description: This course introduces students to swiftwater rescue incident operations. Students will learn to recognize the need for water search and rescue; implement an assessment plan; identify the resources necessary to conduct safe and effective water operations; implement the emergency response plan system for water incidents; implement site control and scene management; recognize general hazards associated with swiftwater and flood incidents and the procedures necessary to mitigate these hazards within the general search and rescue area; and determine rescue versus recovery.

Course Name: Swiftwater Rescue Level I (SRI)
Career Track: Firefighter, Technical Rescue Responder
Hours: 28
Description: A course that is the minimum training recommended for those who work alongside, in, or on moving water. The classroom session provides detailed knowledge of hydrology and hazards associated with moving water. The next two days are spent in moving water, learning skills including shallow water crossings, self-rescue and effective techniques for the rescue of others.
Program Objectives: Designed to meet objectives of NFPA 1006 Swiftwater Rescue Level I..
Prerequisites: Strong swimming ability
Equipment:

Helmet - water rescue, kayak, water sport, or climbing
PFD - Class III or V PFD
Gloves - water rescue, SCUBA diving, rope, or extrication
Footwear - water rescue, SCUBA diving, or sneakers
Thermal protection - wetsuit or dry suit highly suggested

Course Name: Swiftwater Rescue Level II (SRII)
Career Track: Firefighter, Technical Rescue Responder

Description: This advanced course will expand the expertise of those who have taken SRT1 into the realm of extreme whitewater situations, with the emphasis on victim rescue and night operations.
Program Objectives: Designed to meet objectives of NFPA 1006 Swiftwater Rescue Level II.
Prerequisities: Swiftwater Rescue Level I
(Firefighter II and FFII: Rescue Skills Modules / ITRS required for those seeking Firefighter III certification)
Equipment: Water rescue helmet with headlamp
Class V rescue PFD with quick release chest harness
Water rescue gloves
Thermal protection (wetsuit or drysuit)
Water rescue boots

Course Name: Swiftwater / Flood Rescue Boat Operator (SRB)
CareerTrack: Firefighter, Technical Rescue Responder
Hours: 28
Description: This course builds upon knowledge and skills from the Swiftwater Rescue Level I and boating education class. Students will learn to handle boats in both flat and moving water (class III), as well as how to perform rescues safely and effectively in both environments. Other exercises include night operation scenarios and multiple boat operations. This course is designed to meet the needs of agencies who wish to comply with the FEMA team typing requirements or work in conjunction with other agencies and departments during national disasters.
Prerequisites: Swiftwater Rescue Level I, NH Boating education certificate or equivalent
Equipment: The agency being represented will need to provide one inflatable rescue boat 12-18 feet in length with a minimum 25hp engine for each 4 students.
