Enhancing Personal Protection Against Airborne Pathogens Curriculum

The NH Bureau of EMS, in cooperation with the NH Department of Health & Human Services, has developed an educational program to:

  • enhance the EMS provider’s knowledge of respiratory communicable diseases and
  • improve their ability to protect themselves against airborne pathogens.

The "Enhancing Personal Protection Against Airborne Pathogens" curriculum has been developed to promote a greater awareness for the EMS community in practicing increased hand washing techniques and in utilizing face mask and eye protection while treating patients with any type of respiratory illness.

EMS Instructors, Unit Training Officers, and Hospital EMS Coordinators/Contacts are urged to implement the proposed Airborne Pathogens training curriculum within their organizations and hospital catchments areas.

The Airborne Pathogens curriculum is appropriate for all emergency responders who assist individuals having any type of respiratory condition or illness.
