The mission of the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services is to continuously improve our comprehensive statewide EMS system in order to ensure excellence of out of hospital emergency medical care to all persons within the State of New Hampshire.
Bureau Chief Suzanne Prentiss is responsible for overseeing the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services’ various functions. These include the dissemination of public education and information relative to Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Statewide Trauma System. The Bureau is responsible for managing the training, testing, and licensing of EMS providers, units, instructors, training agencies, EMS dispatchers and EMS vehicles, including wheel chair vans. (Law: RSA 153-A) (Rules: Saf-C 5900) It is also responsible for facilitating the establishment and maintenance of a communications network that includes citizen access, EMS Units, healthcare facilities, local, county, and state agencies. Bureau Chief Prentiss serves in the position of Executive Secretary to the Emergency Medical and Trauma Services Coordinating Board, the Medical Control Board, and the Trauma Medical Review Board.
