52 Pine Street, Danville, NH, Fatal Fire

State Fire Marshal J. William Degnan, Danville Fire Chief Steve Woitkun and Danville Police Chief Wade Parsons regret to announce that one victim of the fire that occurred on March 31st, 2014, has died. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending positive identification, expected tomorrow via the NH Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The joint investigation by the Danville Police and Fire Departments, along with the NH State Fire Marshal's Office, is ongoing. Additional information is expected to be released upon completion of the investigation.

Fire Marshal Degnan and Fire Chief Woitkun want to take this opportunity to remind everyone to practice fire safety in their homes by installing and maintaining working smoke and CO detectors, utilizing electrical and fuel burning appliances and extension cords in accordance with the manufacturer's guidelines, and keeping exits clear and accessible to the Fire Department. Please contact your local fire department for literature regarding home fire safety.

This incident remains under investigation by the Office of the State Fire Marshal and the Danville Fire and Police Departments. Further inquiries may be directed to Investigator Eric Berube at the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
