"Change Your Clock Change Your Batteries"

The time has come to turn our clocks back to daylight savings time. That brings up another important item, State Fire Marshal Bill Degnan reminds everyone to change their smoke detector batteries, when you change your clocks this Weekend. Also chamge your smoke alarms if they are ten years old. Manufacturers recommend that they be replaced after ten years. Your life depends on a working smoke alarm!

Your chance of surviving a fire is dramatically reduced without a smoke detector on every level and in each bedroom that are interconnected.

Smoke alarms are the most effective early warning device available. Because fires grow and spread so quickly, having a working smoke alarm in your home can mean the difference between life and death. If a home fire occurs, smoke alarms cut your chances of dying nearly in half.
