The State of New Hampshire Fire Marshal’s Office had a second accelerant detection canine team, which was certified on September 10, 1999 by Maine State Police and Criminal Justice Academy. The canine’s name is Clancy, and the handler is Deputy Fire Marshal John Raymond. Clancy has since retired and still lives at home with Deputy Raymond and his family
Clancy is a Chocolate Labrador Retriever; he was a year-and-a-half old when Deputy Raymond was assigned as his handler. Clancy was rescued from a pound in New York giving him a second chance in life. When Clancy is not working, he lives at home with the Raymond family. Clancy enjoys his days off playing ball with the kids, camping, swimming, and getting into trouble if he can find a trash can. Clancy also enjoys playing with the other members of the family, Josie, the miniature dachshund and Milo, the cat.
