The State of New Hampshire Fire Marshal’s Office had a second accelerant detection canine team, which was certified on September 10, 1999 by Maine State Police and Criminal Justice Academy. Canine Clancy, handler Deputy Fire Marshal John Raymond were paired up and provided the state with six years of faithful service.
Clancy was a Chocolate Labrador Retriever and was a year-and-a-half old when Deputy Raymond was assigned as his handler. Clancy was rescued from a pound in New York giving him a second chance in life. Clancy was a rambunctious and active canine and always a softie with the ladies. Clancy retired in 2004 and passed away in April of 2009.
