New EPA Lead Rule Requires Contractor's to Be Certified
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Rule, which requires contractors to become EPA certified by April 22. The new rule applies to general contractors, renovation contractors, property managers, painters, plumbers, carpenters, and electricians who work on homes, schools, child care facilities, or other buildings built before 1978. more …

Building Codes Become Effective
In accordance with RSA 155-A, the following codes, as published by the International Code Council, become effective in New Hampshire:
  • 2009 International Plumbing Code
  • 2009 International Residential Code
  • 2009 International Mechanical Code
  • 2009 International Building Code
  • 2009 International Energy Conservation Code
Amendments to these codes are available from the State Building Code Web site.

Purple Primer Requirement Removed
At the Public Hearing held at the Building Code Review Board meeting in Concord, NH the requirement for purple primer was removed from the 2009 International Residential Code and the 2009 International Plumbing Code. Primer remains to be required for the assembly of PVC joints, but the primer may be clear, and not purple in color. Purple primer has been amended out of the code and is not required to be used.
