The Mechanical Safety & Licensing Section operates three programs to insure the public safety. The programs are centered around the compliance with nationally accepted codes relative to mechanical systems such as fire alarm and detection systems, automatic sprinkler systems, fixed fire extinguishing systems, portable fire extinguishers, furnaces, boilers, heaters, oil burning appliances, and gas burning appliances.
GAS FITTER'S LICENSING
This program was enacted by the legislature upon the passage of Amilia's Law. For more information on this program click on the link above.
VOLUNTARY CERTIFICATION OF OIL HEATING TECHNICIANS
The Voluntary Certification of Heating Technicians was enacted by the legislature in 2005 and originally covered all heating appliances. Parts of this program were nullified upon the passage of Amilia's Law. Currently this program only covers oil burning appliances.
VOLUNTARY CERTIFICATION OF FIRE PROTECTION EQUIPMENT TECHNICIANS
The Voluntary Certification of Fire Protection Equipment Technicians was enacted by the legislature in 2006. This program covers most of the equipment designed to protect the occupants in public buildings.
