The NH State Fire Marshal’s Office was given the responsibility of developing a voluntary certification of oil heating technicians by Senate Bill 60-FN from the 2003 Session. This bill made changes to RSA 153:16 by adding two new sections, 153:16-b and 153:16-c The law went into effect on August 17, 2003. The Joint Legislative Committee on Administrative Rules (JLCAR) approved the rules on June 30, 2007.
Effective January 1, 2007, the Voluntary Certification of Heating Technicians program was modified to remove the provision for voluntarily certifying gas heating equipment technicians. As a result the passing of Amilia’s Law, gas utilization equipment certification is now covered by the mandatory gas fitters law.
