Committee Meetings |
Effective January 1, 2007, all persons engaged in the installation, servicing and/or repair of gas fired appliances shall be licensed by the NH State Fire Marshal’s Office (RSA 153:27). The law, known as Amilia’s Law, was enacted by the NH General Court during the 2005 session and was the result of a tragic incident which took the life of Amilia Luhrmann. You can learn more about Amilia and her family by visiting her Web site. Governor Lynch signed the bill into law on June 28, 2006. Rules were approved by the Joint Committee on Legislative Rules in July of 2007 and were officially adopted by the Commissioner of Safety on July 19, 2007.
Two application routes have been identified and all use the same form. The trainee route is for those not having the educational nor experience requirements to become fully licensed. They will receive a restricted license and must work under the direct supervision of a licensed individual. The regular application route is for those persons who have a certification from one of the approved training or testing agencies and who can demonstrate the requisite number of work experience hours for the level of licensure they are applying for.
If you have any questions regarding the rules, please contact this office. |

The two year window for obtaing a NH Gas Fitter's license via the existing technician application route closes on October 31, 2009. BUSINESS ENTITY LICENSING:
Soon Gas Fitting Business entities will be able to procure a business entity license for gas fitting. The rules were changed in response to feedback from the industry demanding the new license. Letters will be sent to all businesses that have currently licensed gas fitters. Keep posted to this site for more information. |
CSST BULLETIN : An investigation into the safety of Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing (CSST) has prompted the release of a very important technical bulletin. All technicians are encouraged to review this bulletin regarding the proper bonding of CSST.

Supply House Outreach Program
A new program has been released by the NH State Fire Marshal's Office as part of the overall marketing campaign for the gas fitter’s licensing program. The new program, Supply House Outreach Program, or SHOP, is designed to get inforamation and materials out to the technicians at one of the places they spend some of their working day: In the Supply House. We would like to recognize and congratulate those organizations and companies that have taken advantage of this valuable program. You can view these companies by viewing the SHOP register (NEW: 04-15-08).
