New Training Pages Dedicated to Heating Technicians
Two new web pages have been developed to provide training resources for heating technicians. The advent of both mandatory and voluntary licensing programs concentrate on the importance of required continuing education. The first web page is designed to become a collection for training resources for technicians. The second page is a training calendar to keep you informed of training events planned in the New England area. Check out the Training Resource Page or the Training Calendar Page for more information
Third Party Plan Review Process Now in Place
A new third party plan review process is now in place. All plans required to be reviewed by the NH State Fire Marshal's office will now be reviewed by a recognized third party plan reviewer (TPR).
This new system will require that plans be sent to a TPR for review. Approval will still be issued by the State Fire Marshal's Office upon receipt of proper documentation from the TPR. Check out the Plan Review page for more detail.

NH Gasfitters Licensing Completes Its First Year
Bureau Commander Robert Farley announced that the NH Gasfitters' Licensing program has recently completed its first year of operation. The program was initiated on October 1, 2007. The division issued nearly 4,250 licenses in the first year of operation. The average weekly licensure rate was 79 applications per week. The weekly record high of 167 licenses occured on the fifteenth week of operation in the first week of January 2008. "The success of the system is due in a large part to the dedicated staff in the bureau that have worked to process the applications in a timeley manner." said Farley. 85% of the applications have been through the existing technician application route, which expires on December 31, 2008.
New Building Collapse Data Collection System
A new online data collection system has been installed on our Web site for local officials to use to report building collapses. Although the bulk of the snow has receded, we are expecting more reports to come into the office as seasonal residences are inspected for the first time since last summer. The system was created as a result of the large snow fall amounts that we received in 2007-2008. If you are a local building official, fire official or emergency management director and have not received the access link, please contact our office at 223-4289.
