Certain vehicles are considered "exempt" and are not required to be titled. New Hampshire does not title motor vehicles with a model year older than 15 years (see below for exceptions) or on any of the vehicles listed below:

Vehicles Not Required to be Titled in New Hampshire

• Boats.
• Mopeds.
• Mobile homes.
• Self-propelled wheelchair or invalid tricycle.
• Snowmobiles.
• Trailers with a gross weight of less than 3,001 pounds.
• Vehicles moved solely by animal power.

Vehicles Older than 15 Years Old Requiring a Title

New Hampshire does not issue titles for vehicles older than 15 years old, except for heavy trucks with three (3) axles or more, or truck tractors whose gross vehicle weight exceeds 18,000 pounds which must always be titled regardless of age. Also, certain antique vehicles may be titled at the owner's request.

Vehicles Required to be Titled in New Hampshire

• Heavy trucks as defined under RSA 259:41 having 3 or more axles, when gross vehicle weight exceeds 18,000 pounds (all years are titled).
• Truck-tractors regardless of axles when gross weight exceeds 18,000 pounds (Peterbilt, Mack, Kenworth, Freightliner, etc.) (all years are titled).
• Heavy trucks or truck tractors whose gross vehicle weight exceeds 18,000 pounds which must always be titled regardless of age. Also, certain antique vehicles may be titled at the owner's request.
