Director Richard C. Bailey, Jr., stated that the current location in the Salem Town Hall at 33 Geremonty Drive, where the DMV has had an office alongside the Salem Town Offices for nearly 3 decades, will be closing at the end of business on Friday, June 29, 2012. There will be no Driver Licensing written examinations conducted at the Salem DMV office on June 29, 2012. The new DMV office, located at 154 Main Street in Salem, will open for business on July 2, 2012.
There will be no change to the business hours of the new Salem DMV office, which are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
The Town of Salem recently became an agent of the state and as a result the town may now process both the Town and State portions of most registration transactions; however all other DMV transactions will need to be conducted at the new 154 Main Street location.
The new DMV office is just over one mile from the Salem Town Hall, beside the Salem Fire Department Headquarters on Main Street.
