  • At what age can I start driving?
    At least 15 1/2 years of age and a licensed driver at least 25 years of age must accompany you.

  • When is Driver Education required?
    Individuals over the age of 16 and under the age of 18 are required to take an approved driver education program.

  • What are the Driver Education requirements?
    The requirements are:

    • 30 hours of classroom instruction with a certified driver education instructor.
    • 10 hours of driving with a certified driver education instructor.
    • 6 hours of observation with a certified driver education instructor.
    • Driver Education Certificate (DSMV 210).
    • Twenty (20) hours of additional supervised driving time with a licensed driver at least 25 years-of-age. This additional driving time must be documented on the Driver´s Out-Of-Class Log Sheet, (DSMV 509adobe acrobat reader symbol

  • Upon completion of the Driver Education Program and 20 hours of additional driving time, what documents are necessary to obtain a driver license?

    All public high schools offer driver education and 66 commercial schools are licensed by the NH DMV.

  • After obtaining a driver license, are there any restrictions?
    Yes, if you are under 18 years of age:

    • During the first 6 months, no more than one non-family member may ride in the vehicle.
    • There must be a seat belt for everyone.
    • No driving between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.
