Lost or Stolen License
When you drive a motor vehicle in New Hampshire, you are required by law to have a driver license with you. If your license is lost, stolen or destroyed you must apply for a duplicate license.
Apply for a Duplicate License or Non-Driver Identification
To apply for a duplicate driver license or non-driver identification card, go to any DMV office with the following:
You will receive a 60-day, temporary paper license. Your permanent license or non-driver identification card will be mailed to your New Hampshire mailing address.
Temporary Duplicate License by Mail
If you are temporarily away from New Hampshire and your license is lost or stolen, you may apply for a temporary duplicate license by mail. If your image is not on file at the DMV, you will be unable to get a duplicate license by mail. To apply, please send the following documents:

The DMV will mail a temporary duplicate license which will be valid for six (6) months to your out-of-state address. You are required to go to a DMV office when you return to New Hampshire to complete the duplicate license process.
You are required to provide positive proof of identification for every driver licensing transaction. If your image is on file at the DMV, in most cases, you may use that as positive proof of identification. If you previously requested to have your image removed from the DMV computer system, you will be required to provide two forms of identification and proof of New Hampshire residency
to get a duplicate license or to renew a license.
