Welcome to ReadyNH, New Hampshire's emergency preparedness website. The materials presented here are intended to help individuals, families, businesses and other organizations prepare for major emergencies.
The 2013 Atlantic Hurricane Season starts June 1. Forecasters are predicting a season that is more active than average. The most serious threat to New Hampshire is from mid-August through September. Use information on ReadyNH to plan now to protect yourself and your family.
The warm weather recreation season here and N.H. Fish and Game is offering safety classes for operators of Off-Highway Recreational Vehicles (OHRV) around the state. To operate an OHRV in New Hampshire, any person age 12 or older must have either a valid Motor Vehicle Driver's License or have successfully completed an approved OHRV Safety Education class taught by volunteer instructors trained by Fish and Game.
Additionally, all children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a licensed adult when operating an OHRV, unless they are on property belonging to their parents, grandparents or guardians.
Sign up soon if you or someone you know needs a class. There is no charge for the classes, which are usually completed in a single day. Parents are encouraged to attend along with their children. For a current class schedule, visit http://www.wildnh.com/OHRV/schedule.html. New classes are added as they become available.
You can check weather conditions for most of New Hampshire from the Gray, Maine, National Weather Service office, and for Cheshire and Hillborough counties from the Taunton, Massachusetts, office.
Use ReadyNH to develop your emergency plans to keep yourself and your family safe during winter weather and all year round.
