Senate Bill 286 was signed into law by Governor John Lynch on June 12, 2012.  It created a controlled drug health and safety program (prescription monitoring program) funded entirely through the Federal & private grants & at no cost to the state general fund.  NH joined 48 other states currently with prescription monitoring programs in place.  The program monitors controlled drug prescriptions (in DEA Schedules II through IV) to track/flag "doctor shoppers" and multiple/duplicate controlled substance prescriptions for a patient and notify law enforcement and the various state/federal regulatory boards of any unusual activity.

View the State Statute (RSA 318-B:31-38) regarding the program.

Expanded legislation: SB 31.final; SB 676.final; HB 1423.final; SB 522.final

View the Board's Rules (Ph 1500) regarding the program.

A 13-Member Advisory Council was created to assist the Board of Pharmacy in an advisory capacity and with the development / operation of the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (Controlled Drug Health & Safety Program).
