Hydrocodone Containing Products (HCP's) Now a Schedule II Drug
As of October 6, 2014, the DEA has classified all Hydrocodone Containing Products (HCP's), including Vicodin, as Schedule II Drugs. While DEA was allowing a 6-month grace period for recognizing refills on these products, for consistency the Board voted on 9/10/14 to set a policy and implement emergency rules which do not allow any refills on prescriptions for HCP's as of 10/6, including those written prior to 10/6/14.

Tramadol Now Classified as a Schedule IV Controlled Drug by DEA
Effective August 18, 2014, the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration has classified Tramadol as a Schedule IV Controlled Substance. View the notice from the Federal Register for more information. All pharmacies must begin to inventory Tramadol as of this date in order to comply with Federal and State controlled substance inventory/tracking requirements.
