Plan-link Posting: I'd be interested in knowing if any towns have recently completed a "cost of community services" study.  If so, could you send me the study or direct me to where it might be on your Web site?

Plan-link Reply: Brentwood did something like a Cost of Community Services Study last year as a way to assess and inform citizens about the possible benefits of setting aside money for open space.  One of the authors of the study is Howard Cadwell. The other towns that have done studies are all listed in page 12 of Saving Special Places: Community Funding for Land Conservation Adobe Acrobat Reader Symbol.

I have hard copies of most of the COCSs that have been done in NH and can provide them for you, but don't know of any of them being on anybody's Web sites.

At least one town that I have heard of is currently exploring whether doing a COCS would be worthwhile for them.

Both Phil Auger at UNH Cooperative Extension and I have done these studies and are willing to talk to people who are thinking of doing them.
